While you were creeping gingerly along the haunting, blood-drenched streets of Yharnam, stalked by demonic creatures inspired by Lovecraftian horror, you’d be forgiven for being overwhelmed by an eerie feeling loneliness. However, it appears as though you weren’t the only hunter in such a predicament; far from it, in fact, as Sony today revealed that Bloodborne has sold-through 1 million copies in only two weeks.

According to the Japanese giant, From Software’s critically-adorned RPG stormed past this milestone on April 5. In tandem with the announcement, Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, touched upon the game’s success and the outpouring adulation from the PlayStation community.

“Bloodborne was a new challenge for us, and our goal was to create a title that took full advantage of the power of PS4. I am thrilled that so many users have been enjoying the extremely rich and detailed world, beautiful melancholic atmosphere and palpable tension of Bloodborne. SCE WWS will continue to bring exciting software titles that offer entertainment experiences only possible on PS4.”

Shortly after this revelation, Sony also outlined the specifics of an upcoming patch for Bloodborne – update 1.03, to be exact – which will target the RPG’s excessive load times, along with performance optimization and other minor bug fixes. Due to release by the end of this month, the news will be music to the ears of the title’s most dedicated players, given that loading screens when booting up the game and between deaths can last upward of 45 seconds.

As for planned maintenance in the future, the publisher also had one thing to note regarding the times in which Bloodborne‘s servers will be taken offline intermittently.

Please note: online play will need to be disabled for a short period of time to facilitate server-side updates. In this case, and in the case of any future server maintenance downtime, it has been determined that starting at 1am PT/9am GMT on a non-Friday weeknight will disrupt the fewest players. We will target this time for any necessary future server maintenance downtime, which will only last a couple hours in each instance.

Bloodborne is available now exclusively on PlayStation 4. For more on From Software’s new title, check out our glowing review.
