Viola Davis and Her Daughter, Genesis

On July 9, 2021, Davis took to Instagram to share a wholesome picture of her, her daughter Genesis, her husband Julius Tennon, and her mom Mary Alice.

The photo was in celebration of Genesis’ Harry Potter-themed birthday party. It was held at The Sugar Factory in Los Angeles.

While only four of them celebrated the birthday physically, Genesis received many wishes from her mother’s famous friends.

Via the picture’s comment section, many celebrities like Octavia Spencer, Bobby Berk, Yvette Nicole Brown, Tina Knowles, and John Amos wished the 11-year-old.

Genesis is not a biological child of Davis as the actress does not have any biological children. She was married to Tennon in 2003. He is also an actor best known for Dazed and Confused and Soldiers.

Tennon was previously married to Sheryl Arnold and Christine White. He shares two kids with Arnold — Sheavonda Diana and Duriel Dwight, making Davis stepmom to two kids.

The couple has plans to adopt a child in August 2011, and two months later, they adopted baby Genesis. The news was revealed at the 2011 ELLE Women in Hollywood event.

Davis’ Help co-star, Spencer, revealed that her friend became a mother during an honorary speech to the star. Davis confirmed Spencer’s statement during her own speech. Genesis is the only child Davis shares with her husband.
