Secret Service Living Large In $30,000 A Month Malibu Mansion

The Secret Service is splurging on a $30,000-a-month luxury Malibu mansion to make sure they can keep a round-the-clock watch on President Bidens son, Hunter. Agents can stay in tip-top shape thanks to the Spanish-style villa’s private gym —before taking a breather in the spa or a dip in the private pool.

The Secret Service detail is forking over nearly $400,000 a year for the swank pad, which sits adjacent to the Malibu mansion rented by Hunter Biden. The sprawling mansion features sea views from its six bedrooms. Amenities include a tasting room, pool, spa, built-in BBQ, and “castle-like tower.” Property listings value the home at  $6 million.

During their spare time, agents can relax in the pad's “sunken living room arching around a huge fireplace.” Outside, agents can take advantage of lavish poolside firepits or take a soak in the jacuzzi, which sits near “picturesque gardens.”

As the son of the president, the SS has the mandate to protect the first family, which means around-the-clock security for Hunter, who resides in the neighboring mansion with his wife Melissa, and their baby Beau. Hunter and his family have settled in Malibu ever since his father took office, spending $20,000 of their own money to rent their home.

The Secret Service rental and Hunter's neighboring pad sit on a private road. Both homes are perched high above the Southern California coastline and offer uncompromising views of the Pacific Ocean.

While taxpayers pick up the check, retired senior Secret Service agent Don Mihalek says it’s merely "the cost of doing business for the Secret Service,” adding that under their mandate to protect the president’s family, “the Secret Service is forced to find someplace to rent nearby at market value.”

Of course, President Biden isn’t the first politician to pass the high cost of protecting family members onto the taxpayers.

President Trump charged the agency $650 a night for a single room at his Palm Beach Mar-A-Lago resort and $17,000 a month to rent a cottage at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.

In 2016, President Obama took his family to Martha's Vineyard. The short vacation cost the Secret Service agency $2.7 million, including $2.5 million in hotels and $90,000 in rental cars.
