Fetty Wap has shared a new photo of himself in prison after receiving a six year federal prison sentence for pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.
On Sunday (April 28), Fetty uploaded a photo of himself shaking hands with a fellow inmate at the federal correctional facility. In the photo, Fetty is wearing a white T-shirt, grey shorts, and white sneakers and appears to have put on muscle during his incarceration.
In the caption of the post, Fetty shares his reverence for the man in the photo, whom he has seemingly built a bond with during their time as inmates. “You never no [sic] where life a take you but you find some good ppl along the way,” the rapper wrote in the caption. “I got a few homies I met during my time down that’s real stand up ni**as .. my brudda Tay Banga da Prez & Da Mobsta.”
Fetty Wap was arrested in October 2021 after being accused of having trafficked upwards of 100 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack between Long Island and New Jersey over the course of a year (June 2019 through June 2020).
During several raids of property’s associated with the drug trafficking network, police were said to have recovered $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, two kilograms of heroin, several fentanyl pills, two nine-millimeter handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, and ammunition.
In August 2022, Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge to distribute more than 500 grams of various narcotics, receiving a six year sentence in federal prison.
In his first interview since his incarceration, Fetty Wap attributed his decision to resort to drug trafficking to being fearful of appearing to have “fallen off” after his musical success and income had begun to dwindle.
“It was like, I’m being honest with myself, you know what I’m sayin’? Like, aight, the music wasn’t really doin’ that good. I’m putting out music, but nobody’s payin’ attention,” he said at the time. “So… I’m a go back to what I know how to do. Instead of pursuing my career harder or going harder to make people listen, I was a coward. If I’m fallin’ off, f**k it, I ain’t about to look like it. I was a coward for that.”
