Thursday, October 6th witnessed a violent stabbing incident on the iconic Las Vegas strip, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving at least eight others injured.
Witnesses reported that some of the victims were showgirls who were in the midst of taking pictures with tourists, as per information shared with Fox 5.
The attack unfolded at approximately 11:42 a.m. local time on South Las Vegas Boulevard, near the Wynn Las Vegas and the Resorts World Casino, according to the police.
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo informed reporters at the location that there were eight victims, out of which two had succumbed to their injuries, while three individuals were in critical condition at a hospital.
He further stated that a suspect had been apprehended and a kitchen knife was recovered from the scene of the crime.
Reporter Joe Moeller from local station KTNV shared on Twitter: “I’m speaking with a woman who says 4 injured showgirls work for her. She says the suspect had a knife & claimed he was a chef & wanted to take a picture with the showgirls, when they said no that is when the stabbings started.”
According to a tourist from Montreal, Canada, who spoke to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, there was a distressing scene with “a lot of blood on the ground.”
“There was one showgirl on the ground,” Pierre Fandrich recounted in French. “There was another showgirl on top of her, trying to help her friend. She seemed to be stabbed in the back, but she didn’t notice because she was helping the other showgirl.”
